The American Shakespeare Center is casting Equity and Non-Equity actors for:

2014 BLACKFRIARS PLAYHOUSE SUMMER and FALL SEASONS 

• Macbeth – Director, Jim Warren, ASC Artistic Director 
• Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmund Rostand, translated by Anthony Burgess – Director, Jim Warren 
• The Comedy of Errors – Director, Ralph Alan Cohen, ASC Director of Mission
• Edward II by Christopher Marlowe – Director, Jim Warren
• Pericles – Director, Jim Warren

• 7-month contract:  5 May – 30 November 2014
• Equity LOA, pending.  Non-Equity troupe members receive $1,200-$1,500 per month salary, plus health insurance and housing.
• All performances at the Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton, VA.
• Actors must be available for the entire contract period.  Shows are performed in rotating repertory.

2014/15 AMERICAN SHAKESPEARE CENTER ON TOUR

• Hamlet – Director, Jim Warren, ASC Artistic Director 
• Much Ado about Nothing – Director, TBA 
• Doctor Faustus - Director, Jim Warren
• Wittenberg by David Davalos - Director, Jim Warren

• A Christmas Carol – Director, Jim Warren 

• 11-1/2-month contract:  30 June 2014 – 14 June 2015 
• Non-Equity tour.  Troupe members receive $1,200-$1,500 per month salary, plus health insurance, most meals while on tour, and housing.
•  Tours the United States September through November and January through March.  Performs at the Blackfriars Playhouse in December and April through mid-June.
•  Actors must be available for the entire contract period.  Shows are performed in rotating repertory. 

The American Shakespeare Center looks for classically-trained actors who also are strong singers and musicians.  Our actors play and sing music before and during all ASC shows.  Musical ability is not, however, a requirement for employment.
