The Blackfriars Playhouse--the world's only re-creation of Shakespeare's indoor theatre--is not only our work space, it is also a source of inspiration and a partner in discovering the vitality of Shakespeare's plays. Through an exploration of the performance practices and staging conditions of the Renaissance, ASC training challenges actors to discover anew the time-tested ways to illuminate the plays, transform the self, and transport an audience.

Join ASC actors and a nationally acclaimed faculty of scholars and artists for three weeks of concentrated study in performing Shakespeare. This program, designed for theatre professionals and advanced students, takes place at the American Shakespeare Center in beautiful, historic Staunton, Virginia.
