This is an unpaid internship position.
The development intern is primarily responsible for updating and maintaining the ASC constituent database. At all levels, this is so incredibly important for stewardship, record management and "green living." The intern’s work benefits the organization by allowing ASC to respond to our constituency with the best possible information we have. Every detail is important and every note has its place.
“One of my former student employees took a job with VCU after graduation and has moved up to the position of Manager of Stewardship Operations. Her experience in data management and matching gifts as a student employee helped her get her foot in the door in 2008,” says Heidi Findlay, ASC’s Manager of Development Operations. “It’s hard to think that this kind of work – scanning, uploading, correcting data and gift entry – is important, but it is. It is the ground floor to development and fundraising. I have worked with students who have chosen a career in this field because of the experience they gained working in gifts and records. They learned how the details turn the wheel that encourages the donors to fund the mission.”
