For more than three months, the actors at the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Playhouse have been sharing the stage with a series of untrained local actors. ASC’s current production of William Shakespeare’s The Two Gentlemen of Verona (playing now through Nov. 23) is presented in partnership with Augusta Dog Adoptions, and the local actors in question just happen to be canine. Two Gents provides a pack of tail-wagging, four-legged performers with the opportunity to try their paw at Shakespeare, and, hopefully, find a forever home in the process.

So far, three of the performing pups – Jed (a portly black Labrador retriever), Cooper (a sweet Labrador retriever/Mountain cur mix), and Tulip (a shy Pitbull mix) – have found loving families.

This weekend represents another opportunity for all of Augusta Dog Adoptions’ other adorable, adoptable dogs to meet their new best friends.

Oct. 27 is also the Staunton Downtown Development Association's Trick or Treat morning. Bring the kids in their costumes to get some Halloween treats in Downtown Staunton. The pups will be in costume, too.
