Camp Life Coordinator

Tom DuMontier is thrilled to be the Camp Life Coordinator for the American Shakespeare Center Theatre Camp.  He is looking forward to his sixth year with the Young Company and finds the camp’s mixture of discipline and serendipity to be the perfect fulcrum for creative expression.  Serving as an Assistant Director, a workshop leader, and a head counselor, Tom finds his post as Camp Life Coordinator a natural fit.  A nine-year resident of Staunton, he has acted in productions with Mary Baldwin’s MLit/MFA program in Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature and has tried his hand with community theatre.  Before Staunton, Tom worked with the Kentucky Governor’s School and the Actors Guild of Lexington, Kentucky.  Other than the Bard, his theatrical interests include sound design, mask work and improvisation.  Tom holds a BA in Dramatic Arts from Centre College.

Outside of theatre, Tom works at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind as a Residential Advisor.  He coaches Goalball (a sport for the Blind and visually-impaired) and sits on various school committees.  Tom is a fan of community radio and good cinema.  He volunteers at WNRN Charlottesville, serving as critic and assignment editor for “91 Seconds on Film.” Tom may also be heard doing the occasional on-air shift.
