Elizabethan & Jacobean Seating

At Blackfriars Playhouse, you experience Shakespeare's plays as audiences did four centuries ago. Choose bench seating, Lords' chairs, or Gallants' stools directly on stage! Every seat offers a unique way to see and hear the play, and your fellow playgoers.

Refreshments in the Playhouse

We sell refreshments in the lobby. As the Elizabethans did in their day, you can enjoy them in the theatre!

Refunds and Exchanges

All tickets are non-refundable, but can be exchanged to another performance with 48 hours notice and a $2.00 fee per ticket. Any tickets received at the Box Office before the performance may also qualify as a tax-deductible donation.

General

Wheelchair seating and hearing enhancement devices are available. Please make the Box Office aware of your special needs when ordering. Cameras and tape recorders are strictly forbidden in the Playhouse during a performance. Performances, artists, dates and times are subject to change without notice.

Age Appropriateness

Because the audience is so much a part of our shows and because we care for all our patrons, the American Shakespeare Center does not admit children six and under (including babes-in-arms) to our performances except where explicitly noted. And while we do welcome children aged seven and above, a maximum of four youth tickets may be purchased for each adult ticket purchased.

For more information about the age appropriateness of a specific production, please refer to our Age Appropriateness Guide.
