No Kidding Shakespeare Camp

It's summer camp -- for adults!

July 10-14, 2017

"It was a splendid feast ---- Shakespearean, cultural, and historical for the mind, body and spirit"
-- Marjorie Deutsch, camper 2010 - 2016

Join ASC Education for a week exploring the theme of Shakespeare and Art. From the political messages of Renaissance portraiture to modern works based on Shakespeare's plays, from the role of art in those plays to the ever-more-commodified image of Shakespeare himself, we'll delve deep into the practices and permutations of art throughout the centuries.

Since 2010, ASC Education has offered grown-ups the chance to participate in the festive collaborative atmosphere that the teenagers in our ASC Theatre Camp adore. Through activities based on how our actors engage with early modern staging conditions in the rehearsal room, No Kidding Campers gain insights into the plays, enrichment on culture and history, and a greater appreciation for Shakespeare's stagecraft and worldcraft -- as well as joining ASC staff and actors for discussions, field trips, and carousing. Your fee includes tickets to three shows at the Blackfriars Playhouse, 30 hours of active lectures and playful workshops, 4 community meals during the week, and a chance to explore beautiful downtown Staunton with your new friends.

"One of the top experiences that I have had at ASC"
